Popular social networking platform, Instagram will soon get a new feature that will let users search for posts by keywords. It was officially announced by the company that users in the US, Ireland, UK, Canada, and few other countries will be able to use this Keywords Search Feature on their Instagram account.
This feature is currently not rolled out in India and some other countries and therefore, the users residing in these countries can search for posts using hashtags for now.
For instance, if a user wanted to find “kangaroos”, he would currently search for it using #kangaroos or an Instagram account using a similar name that he is looking for. The upcoming settings will allow the users to find the picture or page that they are looking for with much more ease and convenience.
It is yet not revealed by the company that whether the users will be able to find accurate results upon typing keywords or not. However, it was stated that the users can expect of finding the closest results. The company stated that it uses machine learning for finding the most relevant content for its users. It was also added that the search is purely limited to general interest topics only that are within the company’s community guidelines.

Instagram will also expand the Guides feature for all its users apart from the Keywords Search Feature. The Guides feature will allow users to share posts, tips, places, and whatnot.
